Why You’re Stressed at Work

Do you ever wonder why you feel stressed at work? Do you ever wonder why it seems that everybody feels the same way as you do? Even if you go to the other side of the world, you will still surely encounter somebody who feels stressed about work. People with accounting jobs and various other executive jobs are not exempt; no one is. Here are some reasons that make us all feel stressed about work.
  • The management style isn’t very employee-friendly. For instance, leaving out the voice of the majority of the employees in decision-making can take its toll sooner or later. This leads to policies that are not family-friendly, which then leads to workers who dread going to work.
  • The tasks are not distributed and designed well. If you and your co-workers feel like work never ends, then you are in a company or a department that has a lot of improvement needed to do. You will end up working to the wee hours of the morning and still accomplishing nothing. If employees do not feel that they have little to no control of how they handle tasks, they’d be stressed before you can even spell it backwards.
  • Roles and responsibilities unclear. You might have expected a different kind of job, based on the description given to you when you got the offer. Now, you’re working on tasks that you aren’t comfortable doing. Worse, you’re overqualified or under qualified for the projects assigned to you.
  • Too much work dumped on you. If you have been given more tasks than you should take on, it will soon take its toll on you and the quality of your work may be compromised.
  • Bad interpersonal relationships. If you feel that you are in a gladiator arena every time you go to work because of all the conflicts, competition and lack of support, then you are in the worst place to be working in. Get out before you lose the battle. You would only end up insecure about your abilities and tired from all your pointless tasks.
  • Bad physical environment. If you work in a floor that is too crowded, if the facilities are too old and outdated, if your desk is uncomfortable, you will get stressed. This is often overlooked, but the physical condition of a workplace is a huge factor in the disposition of employees.
